C/2021 A1 Leonard – Animation
Clouds/haze around dusk and limited transparency, but Leonard was bright enough to deliver approx. half an hour of usable data for this animation of the movements within the comet’s tail (22 RGB frames).

Alas, the setup had to be done in a hurry with many problems and the Epsilon is badly collimated at this point in time. A planned maintenance trip now most likely faces travel restrictions.

Dank Thomas Winterers freundlicher Genehmigung, seine Daten vom August auf der IAS Sternwarte Hakos, Namibia für eine eigene Bearbeitung zu nutzen, kann ich dann auch wieder den König der Planeten fast zur Opposition (20.08.2021) mit den bis jetzt besten Details hier im Blog präsentieren.

Auch 2019 war wieder Hakos, Namibia auf dem Programm, dieses Mal “nur” Astrourlaub pur mit reicher Ausbeute, da zwei Wochen lang “Schönwetterkatastrophe”, auch für Namibianische Verhältnisse. Die astrofotografischen Ergebnisse gibt’s schon länger im hier Blog, eine Zusammenfassung u.a. im Deep Sky Video 2017-2020. Ergänzend neu in der Galerie eine kleine Bildserie “drumherum” – Hakos Guest Farm, Rooisand Desert Ranch, Groot Gamsberg Farm.
Namibia 2018 – Hakos
Hakos und die IAS Sternwarte auf dem Farmgelände, mit Sicht auf den Gamsberg, waren wie die Jahre zuvor das “Basislager” für die Namibiareise. Leider im Jahr 2018 zur Marsopposition mit ziemlich schlechtem Wetter, auch nach der Rückkehr vom Gamsberg. Astrofotografisch relativ wenig Ausbeute, die schon vor einiger Zeit hier, hier, hier und in weiteren Einträgen gepostet wurde.
