Another widefield, two-panel mosaic with the remote Epsilon-130D and well known objects in the heart of the Milky Way: Trifid and Lagoon with a lot of surrounding nebulae and star clusters.

A well-known target revisited with the Epsilon-130D widefield astrograph. NGC 6188 – the Firebird Nebula or the Fighting Dragons of Ara – energized by the NGC 6193 cluster. Below the main emission nebula, this field includes NGC 6164/65 – the Dragon’s Egg.

An assortment of nebulae in Sagittarius, very close to the well-photographed Lagoon, thus sort of completing the Lagoon footprint, which made me come up with this nickname.
This is a narrowband (SII, H-alpha, OIII) plus RGB image. For rendering the NB data, I used the “Foraxx” palette described in The Coldest Nights blog along with other techniques. Worked rather well, a pure SHO approach would yield a very green image. Stars are color-calibrated RGB.
Emission and reflection nebulae in this field: IC 1274/1275/4684/4685, NGC 6559
The strange object below and right of NGC 6559 is the planetary nebula PN M 1-41
(RA 18 09 30.10, DEC -24 12 26.0).

Still on the hunt for cometary globules, here’s CG5 trying to escape the evil clouds with tendrils already stretching in its direction … ;-)
Meanwhile, I created an extra page in the gallery with some information on CGs and the related astrophotography so far.
More details at Astrobin, as always.

Took me a while to create something with presentable colors from the narrowband data of this obscure nebula in Scorpius, the previous H-alpha black and white version was easier.
This is a bicolor image with R=H-alpha, G=SII, B=SII and mainly H-alpha with a bit of SII used as luminance, plus calibrated RGB stars screened on-top.

A lesser known object, the Cometary Globule GN 16.43.7.01, nick-named Dark Tower gained some popularity, especially since ESO’s publication of an image taken with the VLT.

A 2 panel mosaic of SHO data in Sagittarius, the reflection nebulae NGC 6589/90 and Surroundings, in particular the emission nebulae IC 1283 und IC 1284. NGC 6590 also seems to be cataloged as NGC 6595.

Oldie, but goldie. The Blue Lagoon, not in Iceland, but in the constellation of Sagittarius, Messier 8 (M8), the Lagoon Nebula. Remote acquistion at the IAS Observatory, Hakos, Namibia.
