A new blurb book with images from last year’s trip to Hallig Gröde during spring time is available.
Finally, the images from the total solar eclipse on August 1st are online.
This image shows the diamond ring just a few seconds before totality. Posted at flickr, it generated a huge interest with more than 5500 views.
Images from a short trip to China July/August 2008.
A trip half around the world for the total solar eclipse, the new album China 2008 features a lot of impressions from our travel to Beijing, Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, and Shanghai. (There will be a separate album for the actual eclipse images, see also my images on ipernity and flickr.)
Part of the programme of the Lindenthaler Kulturnacht (see PDF) is the presentation of our new photography book stadtbild köln, see also the previous post here. I would be delighted to meet you in person, and there is also the chance to get the book signed by the photographers.
The presentation takes place on 16 May 2008, 20:15 in the foyer of the district city hall Lindenthal, Aachener Str. 220, Cologne, Germany.
You might also be interested in the outdoor portrait session starting at 22:00, meeting point room 1.43.
The picture by the way is not the venue, but the opener of the stadtbild köln book. ;-)
The new website stadtbildkoeln.de went online a few days ago.
stadtbild köln is the new photography book by Sabina Derl, Jörg Henne, Martin Junius, Hans Löhr, Ingo Neumann, Alexandra Schmitz, Christian Unbehaun, Oriane Viale und Birgit Voegels. Cologne of course, but certainly not your usual postcards.
The images which you will find on the following pages are refreshing, spirited, original, authentic, powerful and honest. They are never tawdry or trivial, neither silly, boring, nor pleasing. And they do not need any annotation to enrich.

Butzweilerhof, Ossendorf, Cologne’s former airfield
From the landmarked, restored old terminal building to derelict barracks and a decaying container home used for the one season of the “Big Brother” TV series, Butzweilerhof provides quite a contrast of photographic opportunities. The new album Butzweilerhof contains a number of black & white images from a shoot in March.
Best wishes for the year 2008.
Enjoy the web site during the coming year. I managed to overhaul quite a lot “between the years”, more updates and improvements are coming.
A new design of mj’s photography is now online.
It is the “newmjs” theme already used for the gallery, a plain somewhat sepia-toned environment for the images. After almost three years, the old “altschloss” theme simply had to be retired. Along the way, I slightly changed the license. It’s still Creative Commons, but now “no derivs”, the BY-NC-ND license.
Merry Christmas to all visitors of mj’s photography.
Thanks for your visits, your continued interest in my photographic endeavours, and your encouraging comments. All the best for the coming holidays.
