Jennifer - Summer 2003

A portrait of my daughter Jennifer from last year, trying to get away from the “cute little girl” images.

It’s always fascinating to see emotions changing that rapidly with small children, both in looks and gestures. This image is also posted at photo.net for critique, feel free to add your comments or contribute a rating. There is a slight difference in cropping between the image here and at photo.net. All landscape images here have an aspect ratio of 4:3, whereas the photo.net image is 3:2 like the original negative.

Eifel – Mayen – Anemones

Eifel - Mayen - Anemones

Anemones again, another herald of spring near Mayen, Eifel.

A mostly cloudy, windy day wasn’t a very good prerequisite for macro photography. Nevertheless, I like this image of a partly wilted anemone flower, it shows the perishability of the early bloomers, whose flowers already disappear while the fresh green is spreading.

Cologne – Thielenbruch – Anemones

Cologne - Thielenbruch - Anemones

Spring, finally! Early bloomers in the Thielenbruch wood, the eastern-most part of Cologne.

After some warm days earlier in March, we had quite a cold spell since the beginning of spring. So when it became warm again, I took the opportunity on a Sunday morning to photograph some anemones in the Thielenbruch wood.

Zoo Cologne – Willow Tree

Zoo Cologne - Willow Tree

A wonderful early spring day in the Cologne zoo, not only animals but also trees pose as photo models.

Again, I’ve been playing around with the Canon 17-40/4.0L which has been a great lens for the trip to Tenerife. IMHO, at 17mm it gives the willow tree a very dynamic perspective.
