Another single image from the new eruptions on 11 Sep 2021, the most prominent lava fountain in the middle of the lava field in Geldingadalir.
A trip to Iceland in September, with high hopes to see the Fagradalsfjall volcano in action. At first a bit disappointed, because activities stopped just before we arrived, we were lucky on the last but one day and the fourth hike into the volcano area. A splendid display of lava fountains and flows from the late afternoon into the night. More images/videos to come!
Two more clear nights in August allowed for capturing OIII data for the NGC 6888 field, so here comes a bicolor processing.

Continue readingStill a work in progress, mastering the QHY268M with the Optolong LRGBSHO filter set. Seems like a setup with reserved filters is required for the Esprit 100 ED with the original flattener, in order to avoid strange reflections from bright stars such as Deneb or Sadr. Shooting a familiar target here.

Continue readingContinuing the explorations with the QHY268M, a two panel H-alpha mosaic. And the first time I used NINA to control the imaging session.

Lacking the joys of eclipse chasing, at least a partial solar eclipse at home (annular in North America).
Finally completed the album with images from the trip to Anatolia, Turkey for the total solar eclipse on 29 Mar 2006, somewhat in time for the 15th anniversary.
Again, two months to gather enough photons for this image. The bulk of the exposures were taken during a spell of five clear, cold nights in Feb 2021, though. The emission nebula IC 410 also includes the open cluster NGC 1893.

Continue readingA new approach to the Pacman Nebula with the L-eNhance filter and bicolor processing. No so much for clear skies in the winter season here, took over two months to gather some meagre 10 hours of exposure time.
