After more than 6 years, another total solar eclipse brought us back to the US. Weather forecasts favoured Texas, so that’s where we went. But for the eclipse day on 08 Apr 2024, things turned out differently, so after the visit to Austin and Houston we took the long haul to Pocahontas, Missouri. This second part of the series shows the road trip from Texas to Missouri and back again, visiting West Texas after the eclipse.

Nach mehr als 6 Jahren hatte uns wieder eine Sonnenfinsternis in die USA verschlagen. Die Wettervorhersagen favorisierten Texas, das daher unser Reiseziel war. Für den Tag der Finsternis am 8. April 2026 entwickelte sich jedoch alles anders, bessere Aussichten je weiter man in den Nordosten kam, also hatten wir uns kurzentschlossen auf die lange Strecke nach Pocahontas, Missouri gewagt. Der zweite Teil der USA Serie zeigt den Road Trip von Texas nach Missouri und zurück nach der schwarzen Sonne in West Texas.

Squares 3 – Dellbrück, Cologne, DE

It took a while, but now round three of the Squares made it to my website. The images from 2022 to 2024 were already published as a photobook.

Quarks

Quarks Beitrag – Die Mondtäuschung – mit Joana Abondo

Am 9. Oktober war es dann soweit und die Quarks-Sendung “Zurück zum Mond: Der neue Wettlauf ins All” mit unserem Beitrag “Die Mondtäuschung” im WDR-Fernsehen zu sehen. Hier im Standbild mit Joana Abondo. Der Dreh mit Joana, Jakob Kneser und dem Filmteam im August hat großen Spaß gemacht.

After a looong time, a total lunar eclipse was visible from Cologne, Germany. The last time I photographed a lunar eclipse was back in 2019!

Nach laaanger Zeit war endlich wieder eine totale Mondfinsternis in Köln sichtbar. Das letzte Mal habe ich eine Mondfinstern 2019 fotografiert.

Die Serie Texas – Austin, Houston, Galveston is jetzt als Fotobuch bei Blurb verfügbar. Auch wenn man es nicht kaufen will, kann man beim Durchblättern in der Vorschau einen guten Eindruck gewinnen. Ziemlich gut geworden, finde ich.

Nach 2017 brachte uns wieder eine Sonnenfinsternis über den großen Teich in die USA, im April 2024. Die Wetteraussichten favorisierten Texas, daher ging’s dann dort auch hin. Das mit der Sonnenfinsternis wurde noch spannend, aber zunächst einmal standen die Städte Austin, Houston und Galveston auf dem Programm, deren Portrait sich in dieser ersten Bilderserie findet.
