Back to the roots, the first part of the Stadtbild Köln series. An image from an excursion to Chorweiler, Cologne’s infamous suburb, but not without a certain photographic appeal. For Karl of course, this particular picture would be much too pretentious. ;-)
Playing around with my new LX3, a really old telephone, the venerable W48 from my father-in-law’s grab bag, found itself under photographic scrutiny. And yes, the LX3 is a great little camera, a major improvement from my old LX1, especially in the noise department and the overall handling.
[Update 2024]
Butzweilerhof, Ossendorf, Cologne’s former airfield. Among the barracks buildings there is also the decaying container home used for one season of the Big Brother TV show.
As of lately, the Butzweilerhof area features a major outlet of your favourite Swedish-style furniture supplier.
This is one of my more popular Butzweilerhof images at ipernity.
[Update] Complete series: Gallery > Photography > Köln > Butzweilerhof
Part of the Stadtbild Köln series from 2007: Tour of Mülheim with Jazz played by the Talking Horns, Achim Fink, Andreas Gilgenberg, Bernd Winterschladen, Nicolao Valiensi, and local history told by Martin Stankowski.
Another shot from the disaster area two years ago, the Ikarus over the entrance to the Friedrich-Wilhelm secondary school which was dismantled on Friday. [06 Mar 2009]
Noch ein Bild aus dem jetzigen Unglücksgebiet, der Ikarus über dem Eingang zum Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium, am letzten Freitag wurde er geborgen. [06.03.2009]
Visiting Oberhausen with TheCologneMeetingGroup for the exhibition “Jim Rakete: 1/8 sec. – Vertraute Fremde”. And while we were at it, the nearby Gasometer building wasn’t left alone, either.
For this posting I gave LR2/Blog a try, quite convenient and seems to work well.
With the help of some Perl scripting, all postings from the old mj’s photography are now also directly available here in the blog (English text only), starting at Vienna 2008 – The Book.
The start of the “From the Archives” postings, a weekly entry featuring an image, which hasn’t been posted to the photoblog yet. This is one from the Scotland 2007 B&W series which I like more and more.
Finally, I’m moving with this website to a brand-new WordPress installation, which will hopefully be a more flexible and up-to-date foundation for the development of mj’s photography. The old stuff is still there, see the previous posting.
